Privacy notice

This is a one-person business and this notice is deliberately short, because there is not much to tell you.

Who is responsible

Daniel Nicholls, trading as Seaford Driveway & Patio Cleaning, Seaford, East Sussex, BN25. I am the data controller for anything you send me. You can reach me at [email protected] or on 07803 418666.

What I collect

Only what you type into the quote form or tell me directly: your name, phone number, email address if you give one, the town you are in, what needs doing, the rough size, any photographs you attach, and anything you write in the message box.

The form also records the time the page was loaded and whether a hidden field was filled in. Both exist to catch automated spam and neither identifies you.

I do not ask for your full address until you have accepted a quote and we are arranging a date.

Why, and on what basis

To reply to you with a price and, if you go ahead, to do the work and invoice you.

For replying to your enquiry, the lawful basis is legitimate interests: you asked me for a price, and answering you is the whole reason you gave me your details. Once you have accepted a quote, the basis becomes performance of a contract.

For the occasional reminder about when paving is worth cleaning again, the basis is the soft opt-in in regulation 22 of the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations. That applies because you contacted me about buying this service, the reminders are only ever about the same service, and the quote form gives you a box to refuse before you send anything. Tick it and you will only ever hear back about your quote.

Reminders, and how to stop them

Unless you ticked the box on the form, I may occasionally email you about when your paving is likely to want doing again, or about availability at the time of year it matters. That is the only thing I would ever send you, it comes from me rather than an agency, and every message has an unsubscribe link. One click and it stops for good.

What I do not do

I do not sell, rent or share your details with anybody for their own purposes. There is no lead-generation company involved, your enquiry does not go to a panel of contractors, and I do not send you anything about anybody else's business.

Who else sees it

The website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, so form submissions pass through Cloudflare's infrastructure in transit.

Email is handled by my email provider. Invoices and job records are kept in my own accounts.

Two measurement services, covered under Cookies below. Neither is sent your enquiry.

Cookies and measurement

This site uses Google Analytics, which sets cookies in your browser and is used on a very large share of websites. It tells me how many people visited, which pages they read, how they found the site and roughly what part of the country they were in. It does not tell me who you are, and I never see your name, address or anything you typed into the quote form through it.

It loads for everybody, without asking first. I would rather say that here than bury it. If you do not want it, any of these work and none of them affect the site:

• Turn on your browser's tracking protection. Firefox, Safari, Brave and Edge all have it built in and Chrome has extensions for it.
• Use a private or incognito window, which throws the cookies away when you close it.
• Install Google's own opt-out add-on, which switches Analytics off across every site you visit.
• Ring or text me instead of using the website. 07803 418666.

Google is the data controller for what it collects through Analytics, so their privacy policy governs it, not mine. Nothing about a quote, a price or a photograph you send me depends on any of this, and blocking it changes nothing about the service you get or what I charge.

Google Search Console also tells me which searches the site appeared in. It sets no cookies and identifies nobody.

How long it is kept

Enquiries that do not turn into work: deleted within twelve months.

Customers: six years after the last invoice, because HMRC requires records to be kept that long.

Photographs you send me are used to quote your job. I will not publish a photograph of your property anywhere without asking you first, and asking means a specific question about that photograph, not a line buried in terms you agreed to.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask me for a copy of what I hold about you, ask me to correct it, ask me to delete it, object to my using it, or withdraw consent at any time. Email or ring and I will deal with it within a month, usually the same week.

If you are not happy with how I have handled something, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. I would rather you told me first so I can put it right.

Changes

If this notice changes, the date at the top changes with it.
